NTE Map Insight is something very different as compared to existing products. NMI allows easy creation
of two-dimensional (heads) topographic maps and of two-dimensional (lines) or three-dimensional (ribbons) charts of scalp
EEG data. Data analysis is performed by EureKa!, the leading software included in the NTE Pack 2005.
NMI also
allows data transformation to facilitate visual data inspection and to prepare data for further statistical analysis (e.g.,
data normalization and log-transformation).
With NTE MapInsight you can visualize the results of the scalp analysis
in a very convenient and elegant way. NMI provides you with many useful tools to uncover patterns in the data. The most important
characteristics of NMI are flexibility and ease of use. You have full control over all graphical characteristics of the program
and you have no constraints on the number or definition of frequency bands. In this first version of NTE Map Insight there
are many uncommon features.
NTE MapInsight Features
· Simultaneous mapping of two data sets.
This way you can view and compare data for absolute and relative power, or pre-post analysis on a single subject,
or power and Database Power comparisons, or raw and normalized data, or....
· For each data set NMI simultaneous
displays up to 128 maps.
For example you can analyze the 0-64 Hz Power spectrum at 0.5 hertz resolution (128 maps).
You can define up to 128 bands as you like. This feature comes from the power of EureKa!
· For each data
file NMI displays both a 2D topographic map (heads) and a chart.
Whereas topographic maps are a very informative
method for plotting scalp data, charts sometimes uncover patterns not visible otherwise.
· Support for
any arrangement of up to 99 electrodes.
This way you have a program already supporting your future hardware upgrades,
and any alternative arrangement of electrodes you might use.
· Fully resizable graphics.
This
way you can arrange your data on-the-fly as you need.
· Full custom control of appearance.
With
the color palette wizard you can choose colors and number of colors for drawing maps, but you can also change background,
titles, fonts.... The same is true for the charts and for the control bar where many commands are available within one or
two mouse clicks.
· Support for a wide range of on-time data transformation.
Like log transformation,
normalization, smoothing, standardization etc. etc. You can do most you need for punctual data analysis with a mouse click
and immediately view the results of the transformation.
· Support for Global, Universal, and Local scaling.
That is, you can scale each map to the maximum of all maps (Global) or each map to its own maximum (Local). The
first choice is the only option provided by most current programs and leads to the "washing out" effect, especially
for high frequency activity, which power is usually much lower than alpha.
· Full control over the interpolation
algorithm
With a fully customizable layered pseudo-Laplacian algorithm you can change the number of neighboring
electrodes used for interpolation depending on the density of your montage. You can even create topographic maps that emphasize
deep or superficial sources.
· Self-explanatory
With a extensive messages, hints, tips, etc.
NMI is the first program in the industry that explains its interface to the user without interfering with its normal functioning.
You will learn about NMI simply by using it!
